In between her emceeing duties, Nicki Minaj debuted a new song from Pink Friday 2 and performed her track “Last Time I Saw You” at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards tonight (September 12). Singing and rapping solo before an excitable and vocal crowd, Minaj performed the new song without revealing its title.
Minaj is up for a few trophies at this evening’s ceremony. She’s nominated for Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, Presented by Burger King® (“Super Freaky Girl”), Best Hip-Hop (“Super Freaky Girl”), Best R&B (“Love in the Way” with Yung Bleu), and Best Visual Effects (“Super Freaky Girl”).
Last year, Minaj was honored with the annual Video Vanguard Award, which this year is going to Shakira. Minaj also emceed the 2022 VMAs alongside LL Cool J and Jack Harlow, and performed a career-spanning, nine-song medley that included portions of “Super Bass,” “Super Freaky Girl,” “Monster,” “Beez in the Trap,” “Anaconda,” “Chun-Li,” and more.
