Yeule has shared the title track from their forthcoming album, Softscars, which arrives digitally September 22 via Ninja Tune. (A physical release will follow on October 6.) “In the garden of my mind, it’s dark and prickly sweet and sticky,” Yeule said of the new single’s inspiration in a press release. “And just like that the scar in my heart slashed across the center, the most precious one was made.” Listen to “Softscars” below.

“Softscars” follows recent single “Inferno,” as well as the previously shared “Ghosts,” “Dazies,” and “Fish in the Pool,” plus Yeule’s debut Ninja Tune single, “Sulky Baby.” Yeule wrote and produced Softscars alongside collaborator Kin Leonn. The album features additional production from Mura Masa and Chris Greatti.

Yeule’s new album follows their 2022 LP Glitch Princess. As they put it in press materials, the title track draws on experiences that allowed Yeule to express vulnerability. “I was forcing myself to separate myself from my artist persona and trying to tone myself down,” they said. “Because I felt like people wouldn’t like me if I was really that.” The forthcoming Softscars creates a bridge between those identities.

Yeule will tour behind the new album this fall with support from Sasami.
