The North American leg of Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour kicks off this week in Toronto, which means that you should start thinking about what to wear. And if there’s one must-have accessory for the tour, it’s a sparkly cowboy hat, like the one Queen Bey wore to announce the tour back in February.
Bey’s stylist bought the disco cowboy hat from an Etsy shop, owned by Abby Misbin, last summer. Misbin’s shop, TrendingByAbby, has been slammed with orders ever since the hat made its tour poster debut.
“I had no clue whether it was gonna be used,” Misbin told The Cut in February. “I was thinking, ‘She’s gonna look at the hat and not like it.’ I was just refreshing my phone and hoping for the best. I didn’t see it when her album art got released. She’s wearing a cowboy hat, but not my cowboy hat, which was the biggest bummer. And then the tour poster came out, and she was wearing it.”
After the tour poster dropped, Misbin “replied to like 50 tweets” to get people to notice that Beyoncé was wearing her hat. And it worked.
“I sold out once one very popular Twitter account posted it,” Misbin said. “My friend messaged them about my shop, and they said, ‘That’s awesome, we love that it’s a small business, we’ll promote it right away.’ The tour poster dropped at 8 or 9 a.m., and by 11 a.m., I was sold out. Everyone wants to wear them to the tour.”
Misbin received around “75 orders” in the first day and had close to 500 people on the waiting list at the time of the interview. The hats are currently sold out, but according to a message on her Etsy shop, Misbin is determined to get them out to fans. “I’m committed to bringing each and every one [of] you lovely people a beautiful disco ball hat!”
Between Beyoncé and hit shows like Yellowstone, the cowboy aesthetic and coastal cowgirl aesthetic keeps getting hotter as the trends have racked up more than 140 million views on TikTok. Whether you’re heading to see Bey perform live, hitting up a musical festival, or another must-see tour (or all three, if you’re lucky), a cowboy hat will certainly come in handy.
